AI is amazing.
Particularly if you don’t look too hard at the output.
Because it’s often flawed.
Because it’s often badly reasoned.
Because it’s often wrong.
We must remember AI is an algorithm.
So, like any algorithm it has assumptions and biases built-in.
Its biggest flaw is in fact a human one.
It’s a people pleaser.
That’s right, it wants you to like it.
And of course, keep using it. Because you’re either paying money for it, our your paying by training it for them.
But people please can lead to bad outcomes.
You can push, cajole and flat-out bully AI in different directions.
Because it’s trying to please you it will often do anything you it thinks you’ll like.
Starting to see the problem?
AI needs to be human managed.
You need to supervise it as much as any employee.
And you must use critical thinking to reflect on what you put in and what it gives out.
It’s wonderful tech, but I wouldn’t give it the keys to your house.
