The year is 1958.
This the famous ‘Man In The Chair’ ad.
The ad is selling magazine space (be a tough job today).
But with a little tweaking this ad would be just a powerful today.
Here’s my go at a rewrite.
“I don’t know you.
I don’t know your company.
I don’t know how your product is different.
I don’t know what you can do for me.
I don’t care about your content marketing strategy.
I don’t want your canned sales pitch.
I looked at your website and still don’t know what you do.
Now, why are you interrupting my day?”
Moral: Marketing is about people. Focus on building trusted relationships before you ask me for money.
